About C & G Narrowboats
C & G Narrowboats was established in 1999 by Gary Wallbank and his wife, Carolyn, as a manufacturer of steel-hulled narrowboats. Originally based in the heart of Birmingham, C & G took the opportunity to relocate to Crick, Northants, a year or so after starting up. One of the waterways' most popular locations, Crick Marina offered more space, a friendly atmosphere, and, most importantly of all, plenty of work.
It was in early 2001 that C & G's first narrowboat was completed. The boat featured in April 2002's Canal & Riverboat magazine - as boat of the month. Gary and Carolyn became somewhat attached to this vessel and decided to keep it, naming her Yardley (from the area in Birmingham in which they live).
Some half a dozen or so narrowboats later, it was becoming increasingly apparent to C & G that there was a lot of demand in Crick for refits, rewires and repairs of existing narrowboats; more and more time was being taken by the demand for such work. Hence their gradual move away from the manufacture of narrowboats to their new occupation as narrowboat fitters.
As a qualified electrician and expert woodworker, CBA board member Gary Wallbank now operates a thriving business from the workshop in Crick Marina. There is little - if anything - C & G cannot turn its hand to: from the manufacture of new cratches to complete refits and rewires of existing narrowboats, C & G Narrowboats has it covered. So if your narrowboat needs work of any description, there are few better people to turn to than C & G.
